Description
Rinker Design Associates (RDA) is seeking an experienced Senior Roadway Manager to join our Transportation team. In this leadership role, you'll oversee the planning, design, and delivery of roadway projects while providing technical guidance, fostering client relationships, and mentoring staff. You'll play a key role in delivering innovative transportation solutions that improve mobility and strengthen communities throughout Virginia and beyond.

What You'll Do:
  • Manage and oversee roadway design projects from planning through final design and construction support.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality transportation projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide technical leadership and quality assurance for roadway design plans, specifications, quantities, and estimates.
  • Ensure designs comply with VDOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, and applicable local standards.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer to review and guide design development.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and designers, promoting technical excellence and career growth.
  • Support project pursuits, proposal preparation, and business development efforts.
  • Assist with workload planning, resource allocation, and project financial performance.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and industry events to strengthen relationships and identify new opportunities.
  • Provide construction support and technical assistance during project implementation as needed.

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 12+ years of roadway design and project management experience, preferably on VDOT and municipal transportation projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with Virginia licensure or the ability to obtain through reciprocity.
  • Strong knowledge of VDOT Road Design Manual, AASHTO criteria, MUTCD, and transportation design standards.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil3D is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience managing project schedules, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience developing and maintaining client relationships and supporting business development efforts.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop technical staff.
