Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking Construction Inspectors to join our growing Construction Engineering & Inspection team in western North Carolina.  

Our construction professionals bring deep, real-world experience in inspection, supervision, safety oversight, and construction observation. With ongoing training and a collaborative mindset, our team ensures daily schedules are met and that all work and materials align with project plans and specifications.

We partner closely with our clients to deliver exceptional value, reliable schedules, and outstanding project quality across a wide range of infrastructure projects—including heavy highway work, single- and multi-span bridges, intersections and traffic signals, marine construction, water and wastewater transmission, vertical and building projects, parks and recreation facilities, and condition assessments and asset inventories.

Responsibilities
  • To perform quality control construction observations for various highway roadway and bridge construction, general site work, maintenance and protection of traffic, drainage, earthwork, paving, concrete work, reinforcement steel placement, utility relocation work, coordination, and safety.
  • Able to read contract documents and construction plans.
  • Responsible for field construction observation monitoring/tracking of construction sequencing, cost, scheduling and performance decisions.
  • Assure that proper document control, quality assurance documentation and construction project records are kept.
  • Assure quality and uniformity in the records of various contracts in the overall program.

Qualifications
  • 1+ years related construction engineering/inspection experience, including roadway inspection and maintenance and protection of traffic for day and nighttime operations.
  • Prior experience with bridge construction (rehabilitation & new) a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • NICET Certification preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills. 
  • Time management, attention to detail, and excellent organization skills.
  • Knowledge of NCDOT road specifications a plus.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
