Construction Superintendent Highway & Bridge


Base Salary: $105,000 - $115,000


Position Summary

Thomas Construction builds infrastructure that communities depend on including roads, bridges, and transportation systems designed to last.
The Construction Superintendent Highway & Bridge is responsible for leading daily field operations on infrastructure projects while ensuring safety, quality, scheduling, and production standards are consistently met.
This role provides leadership for field crews, subcontractors, and site operations and ensures projects are executed in accordance with DOT specifications, project plans, and company standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead daily site operations for highway and bridge construction projects
  • Coordinate crews, subcontractors, and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with DOT standards, specifications, and safety requirements
  • Manage schedules, materials, and field logistics
  • Oversee structural elements including bridges, drainage systems, and roadway components
  • Resolve field issues quickly and effectively
  • Maintain clear reporting and communication with project teams


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in highway and/or bridge construction
  • Strong knowledge of DOT standards and infrastructure construction practices
  • Experience with bridge structures, formwork, concrete, and roadway systems
  • Proven leadership and crew management experience
  • Ability to read plans and specifications
  • OSHA certification preferred


Reports To

Project Executive or Director of Construction (may vary by project).


Direct Reports

Field crews, subcontractors, and/or trade leads depending on project assignment.


Work Environment

This role operates primarily on active construction sites and may require work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, loud noise levels, and construction equipment typical of infrastructure and building projects.


Physical Demands

This position may require standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting materials or equipment up to 50 pounds.
The role may require extended periods of time on construction sites and navigating uneven terrain.


Travel Requirements

Local and regional travel to project sites may be required depending on project assignment.


Compensation and Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $105,000 $115,000 annually
  • Annual Bonus: Target 10% performance-based bonus
