Registered Nurse (RN) โ€“ Intermediate Care / Step Down Unit


Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Hours Guaranteed: 36 Hours/Week
Start Date: 09/09/2026
End Date: 12/12/2026

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for an Intermediate Care/Step Down Unit specializing in Pulmonary and Thoracic patients. The RN will provide high-quality care to patients requiring close monitoring and specialized treatment for respiratory, cardiac thoracic, hepatobiliary, and head/neck surgical conditions.

Unit Details

Pulmonary/Thoracic Intermediate Care Unit (648A)

Patient populations include:

  • Intermediate medical patients
  • High-risk respiratory patients
  • Cardiac thoracic surgery patients
  • Hepatobiliary surgery patients
  • Head and neck surgery patients
  • Patients requiring oxygen therapy ranging from Room Air to BiPAP and Optiflow
Requirements
  • Active RN License
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Intermediate Care, Step Down, PCU, or related specialty
  • AHA BLS Certification (Required)
  • AHA ACLS Certification (Required)
  • NIHSS Certification (Preferred)
Schedule
  • 13-Week Travel Assignment
  • 12-Hour Night Shifts
  • Schedule varies; typically 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • Weekend and holiday rotation required
Holiday Requirements

Travelers must work:

  • Two (2) Major Holidays from:
    • Thanksgiving Day
    • Christmas Day
    • New Year's Day

AND

  • One (1) Minor Holiday from:
    • Day After Thanksgiving
    • Christmas Eve
    • New Year's Eve
Additional Information
  • Travel candidates only
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
  • Compliance requirements due by Wednesday prior to the assignment start date
  • Badge photo required before start
Compensation Information
  • Daily Overtime after 24 hours
  • Weekly Overtime after 40 hours
  • Overtime paid according to contract multiplier
