Primary Purpose:
Meets the health care needs of students in the Mailman Segal Center, dispense medication, and provide a basic health information resource to the school.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Develops individual care plans for Baudhuin students based on IEP information.
a) Collects information about the health and developmental status of the student in a systematic and continuous manner, including health and social histories.
b) Collects data from student, family, school, personnel and health care professionals.
2. Ensures implementation and monitoring of individual care plans.
3. Ensures children's medications are dispensed to families or disposed of through risk management when the student disenrolls or transitions from the Baudhuin Preschool.
4. Provides immediate medical evaluation of a student's first aid needs.
5. Provides first aid care appropriate to the immediate needs of the student.
6. Calls emergency medical services if necessary and ensure parent notification.
7. Initiates communication with students, staff, and parents as it relates to student health.
8. Creates and maintain appropriate logs, records, and accident reports.
9. Maintains the orderly operation of the clinic.
10. Maintains student health records and medical files.
11. Administers medications as prescribed by physicians and approved by parents.
12. Orders clinic and health care supplies as needed.
13. Provides in-service training to faculty and staff at the MSC, including but not limited to childhood illnesses, first aid, CPR, seizures, universal precautions and blood borne pathogen training, as well as review of contagious diseases and clinic procedures.
14. Coordinates and review the training activities with the director.
15. Participates in Broward County School Board in-service trainings or other training programs offered to increase the individual's skill and proficiency related to the assignment.
16. Collaborates with other professionals in assessing, planning implementing, and evaluating programs and other school health activities.
17. Participates in child study meetings.
18. Reviews current development, literature and technical sources of information related to the job responsibility.
19. Follows federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.
20. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Job Requirements:
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Required Certifications/Licensures: 1. Licensed Registered Professional Nurse in State of Florida.
2. Certification in CPR/AED/First Aid.
3. Must pass job related test requirements: Medication 85%, Universal Precautions 100%
Required Education: Technical/Specialized Training (Specify)
Major (if required:
Required Experience: Diploma certificate from an accredited school of nursing and five (5) years clinical nursing experience, including a minimum of three (3) years in pediatric clinical nursing.

Associates Degree in Nursing and five (5) years clinical nursing experience, including a minimum of three (3) years in pediatric clinical nursing.
--OR--
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and three (3) years' experience in pediatric clinical nursing.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Previous medical experience in a school or clinic environment.
2. Experience with children with special needs.
3. Familiarity with school health programs.
