Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be a pivotal healthcare professional, delivering compassionate, high-quality care that truly impacts our patients' well-being and recovery.

  • Possesses the skills to identify opportunities to reduce procedural risks during the pre-procedure planning for care. Observes, collects and records data related to patient's biophysical, psychosocial, environmental and self-care ability as well as educational and discharge planning needs. Assessments are done upon admission to the endoscopy or infusion unit and ongoing during the procedure or therapy
  • Develops a relevant plan of care with the patient and family to meet their needs using assessment database and nursing diagnosis/problems. Monitors plan of care based on nursing diagnosis and patient expected outcomes that include nursing intervention upon admission to the units
  • Implements the plan of care with the physician, patient, and patient's family. Operates specialized endoscopic equipment. Applies knowledge of crash cart and location of supplies, emergency medications and equipment to provide safe and competent nursing care. Anticipates physician needs in preparing for and during the procedure. Prepares for procedures as indicated by Endoscopy and Infusion schedule, patient consent and physician's preference. Follows physician orders according to the prescribed medical regime by preparing, assisting and providing follow up care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures or therapies
  • Skillful in the administration and titration of conscious sedation medication. Follows policy and physician direction. Skilled in recognition and ability to assist in the reversal and rescue of patients under the effects of conscious sedation
  • Skillful in the administration of a wide range of IV and injection medications, fluids and blood products etc. Compliant with all IV & injection medication, and blood administration policies
  • Understands rationale, risks and side effects of medications given in the infusion unit. If unfamiliar with medication, does not hesitate to review literature and or consult with pharmacist. Works in a collaborative manner with pharmacy staff

  • Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN)ย ย 
  • Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA)ย 
  • Critical RN Adult/Neonatal/Pediatric/Acute (CCRN)ย 
  • Certified Gastroenterology (CGRN) RN

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.ย  This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
