As part of the Children Youth Mental Health (CYMH) program , the Registered Nurse contributes to meaningful outcomes for children, youth, and families facing complex mental health challenges in Ontario. This role offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, professional growth, and making a lasting impact through compassionate, evidence-based care. This role requires cross coverage between our York Program ( 218 Earl Stewart Drive) as well as our Durham program(419 King Street W) Summary of Roles and Responsibilities The Registered Nurse (RN) is a key member of the interdisciplinary team within the York Program - which includes a Live-In Treatment (LIT) program and our Durham Program.

The RN provides comprehensive nursing care to children and youth with complex mental health, behavioural, developmental, and/or neurodevelopmental needs in a live-in treatment setting as well as a consultative role in our Durham and York programs. The role of the RN is the promotion and maintenance of the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of clients by delivering evidence-based nursing care, supporting medication management and education, responding to health concerns, and collaborating with families, caregivers, physicians, and other community care partners to achieve individualized treatment goals. The RN practices in accordance with the the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) standards, applicable legislation, Kinark policies, and principles of trauma-informed, culturally safe, and client- and family-centred care.

This role reports to the Senior Nursing Manager at Kinark. The salary range for this position is $42.30/hr CAD- $46.65/hr CAD Key Responsibilities Clinical Care Complete comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing health monitoring of clients. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans based on the needs of the clients

Act as a clinical resource regarding nursing and physical health concerns. Assess and respond to acute and chronic physical health concerns. Provide first aid, emergency nursing interventions, and crisis response as required.

Coordinate medical appointments, specialist referrals, and follow-up care. Monitor immunization status and health screening requirements where applicable. Support infection prevention and control practices within the residence.

Medication Management Ensure proper medication administration in accordance with physician orders and Kinark policies. Monitor medication effectiveness, therapeutic outcomes, and adverse effects. Complete medication reconciliation and maintain accurate medication administration records (MARs/eMARs).

Provide clients and/or families, and staff pharmacotherapeutic education regarding medications and health conditions. Coordinate discharge medication plans and follow up Mental Health and Treatment Support Participate in interdisciplinary assessment, treatment planning, and case conferences Integrate nursing knowledge into behavioural and mental health treatment planning Support psychiatric care by monitoring mental status, medication response, and emerging health concerns Contribute to discharge planning and transition to community services Collaboration Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, physicians, psychologists, social workers, child and youth workers, occupational therapists, educators, and other professionals. Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, schools, hospitals, pharmacies, and community partners.

Advocate for client health needs and continuity of care. Work with Kinark partners to ensure policies and licensing practices are maintained and followed Participate in incident reporting, debriefing, and continuous quality improvement. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards and infection prevention protocols.

Qualification Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse (RN) Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Bachelor of Nursing Current CPR (Healthcare Provider) and First Aid certification. Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in child and youth mental health, residential treatment, pediatrics, psychiatry, or community health. Knowledge of child and adolescent development and mental health disorders.

Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Ability to work independently while functioning effectively within an interdisciplinary team.

Proficiency with electronic health records and documentation systems. Valid Ontario driver's licence and access to reliable transportation (if required). Fluency in French language (written and oral) an asset.
