Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Critical Access Hospital in Illinois, requiring a minimum of 3 years of experience and an active IL RN license.

Details
  • Critical Access Hospital setting with a 30-bed MS/Tele unit and an average daily census of 19 patients
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:30–07:00)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating is required for all travelers — within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility when census is low
  • No on-call requirements
  • Charting is done in Cerner
  • Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation
  • Scrubs color required: grey
Requirements
  • Active Illinois (IL) RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
  • MS/Tele and Telemetry experience required
  • Required cardiac monitoring skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry unit monitoring, and Rapid Response Team utilization
  • Required endocrine/metabolic skills: IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
  • Required IV/phlebotomy skills: port access, blood product administration, central line care, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
  • Required medication skills: heparin protocols and titration of vasoactive drips
  • Required neurological experience: CVA management
  • Required respiratory skills: CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy management
  • Experience with feeding tube care and management required
  • Experience with renal failure patients required
  • Experience with total joint replacement patients required
  • Proficiency in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Community hospital experience preferred

  • 13-week contract

  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
  • Candidates who have been a permanent or PRN employee of Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
  • Candidates must be prepared to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • RTO of 5 days or fewer (non-holiday) can typically be accommodated; requests beyond that require facility approval — discuss any specific needs upfront
  • Schedule requests and block scheduling should be discussed with the manager
