Job description

Summary/Objective
  • Assist in leading the QA team while in the Processing facility by working at various positions as a team member and mentor. Ensure that food products comply with quality assurance, legality, and food safety requirements. This shall include at a minimum compliance to all Federal regulations, 3rd party au-diting schemes, product specifications, and specific customer requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Meet all of the QA Technician I Essential Functions.
  • Must be HACCP certified and meet at least 3 of the QA Technician II additional requirements.
  • Ability to write Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), train, and ensure SOP's are followed.
  • Assure quality, legal, and safety standards are met.
  • Ability to create propper HASSP Documentation required.
  • Develop proficiency in third party audits.
  • Be knowledgeable of required testing procedures.
  • Maintain customer-required databases.
  • Ensure all products are handled in accordance with current good manufacturing practices.
  • Conduct internal GMP audits.
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally to all levels of management as requested.
  • Be knowledge of Food Safety Practices.
  • Serve as team member for mock recalls and traceability exercises.
  • Perform quality assurance tasks as assigned.
  • Communicate and work as a Team Member in both QA and Production.
  • Be able and willing to cover all QA Technician positions when short staffed.
  • Communicate with fellow employees to help ensure manufacturing tasks are timely completed with adherence to established safety standards.
  • Assist other team members in completion of work.
  • Review QA HACCP documents, including Load tickets.
  • Create and submit the weekly medicated feed documents and memo.

Supervisory Responsibility
The position will supervise the QA Techs under the direction of the QA Manager.
Work Environment
The worker is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions with infrequent exposure to outside environmental conditions: Minimal exposure to weather conditions and frequent exposure to tempera-ture changes. Worker will be exposed to a -20°F environment on occasion. The worker is subject to noise. The worker can be subject to cold and wet conditions.
Physical Demands
This job involves medium work exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to more objects.
The worker will be required to have a range of motion as follows:
  • Often requires walking or moving to accomplish tasks.
  • Often requires standing for sustained periods of time.
  • Occasionally requires stooping and reaching.
  • Occasionally requires pushing using upper extremities to press against something with steady force.
  • Occasionally requires pulling using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting is required on an occasional basis.
  • Often requires feeling of products perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, tempera-ture or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Repetitive Motions are required, which involve substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Monday through Friday, weekends as needed.
Expected Hours of Work: 8 hrs./day, 40 hrs./week. Start times may vary.
Travel
Some local travel may be required.
Required Education and Experience
  • Demonstrable record keeping and organizational skills.
  • Fundamental math skills and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
  • HACCP Certified by passing the USDC test.
  • Exemplary Attendance.
  • Fundamental knowledge of writing standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English.
