Job description

 

River Valley & Cavallaro Foods, a growing specialty foods and consumable products distributor in Syracuse, NY, is searching for a part time Grocery Merchandiser to join our Sales Team and serve our customers in the Williamsport, PA Area.


 River Valley Holdings is a family-owned food distribution company based in Syracuse, NY and serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods, and Empire Valley, distribute a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY.


 This role is integral to driving business growth and supports our commitment to building lasting and productive customer relationships through our full-service program. The successful candidate demonstrates attention to detail, exceptional visual presentation skills, and the business acumen to meet customer needs through active listening and open, effective communication.


Schedule:

  • 5 Days a week, 15-25 hours
    Essential Functions:
  • Consistently deliver exceptional customer service and build productive customer relationships.
  • Stock product, arrange product on shelves, and rotate product to ensure freshness.
  • Build displays, implement planograms, and reset sections to add items or optimize shelf placement.
  • Cleaning and dusting of product and shelving.
  • Order product to maintain inventory levels, as needed.
  • Perform additional job duties as required.


 Requirements and Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in a merchandising or customer service role; grocery experience preferred
  • Must have a valid state issued driver’s license and reliable personal transportation
  • Daily travel required, must be available for occasional, position dependent overnight travel
  • Reimbursement for travel
  • Available to work weekends and/or a variable schedule as required
  • Able to routinely lift 5 - 10 pounds with occasional up to 50
  • Able to stand, walk, lift and bend to service lower shelves for extended periods of time
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information
  • Strong organizational skills and a fundamental understanding of sales processes
  • Ability to adapt and demonstrate flexibility in managing numerous, competing priorities
  • Proven critical thinking skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Strong computer skills – Email/Outlook, Electronic Ordering/PDA, Word, Excel
