Job Summary:
We are seeking a versatile and customer-focused Will Call Loader to join our team at the lumber barn. This cross-trained role combines cashiering and loading responsibilities to ensure a seamless customer experience from purchase to pickup. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling transactions, assisting customers with product selection, and managing the physical aspects of loading and cutting lumber.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Sales Support
  • Greet and assist customers with purchases and pickups.
  • Provide knowledgeable support about lumber and building materials.
  • Coordinate with barn staff to ensure smooth customer interactions.
Transaction Processing
  • Accurately handle cash, credit, and electronic payments.
  • Maintain proper cash drawer balancing and generate sales reports.
Loading & Unloading
  • Safely load lumber and building materials into customer vehicles.
  • Assist with unloading deliveries and organizing stock.
Lumber Cutting & Equipment Operation
  • Cut lumber to specified lengths and angles using appropriate tools.
  • Operate forklifts, saws, and other material-handling equipment as needed.
Inventory & Pricing Control
  • Ensure correct pricing on products and monitor stock levels.
  • Restock supplies and report low inventory to management.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow company policies for cash handling, equipment use, and workplace safety.
  • Use proper lifting techniques and maintain a clean, organized barn area.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience: Previous cashier or warehouse experience preferred, but not required.
Customer Interaction: Friendly, professional, and service-oriented demeanor.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with lumber and building materials is a plus.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
Equipment Proficiency: Ability to safely operate saws, forklifts, and cutting tools.
Organizational Skills: Capable of managing multiple tasks in a busy retail setting.
Attention to Detail: Strong accuracy in transactions and record keeping.
Safety Awareness: Understanding of workplace safety procedures.
