Job description

The Volunteer works in a specific area and under the direction of a designated supervisor. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Adheres to the facility and daily schedule.
  2. Provides interactive supervision of students to ensure the safety, health and welfare of staff and students at all times.
  3. Provides encouragement, guidance and resources to staff and students when needed.
  4. Models and ensures all program norms are upheld without compromise.
  5. Acts as a positive role model and mentor for both staff and students.
  6. Treats others with respect, confronts negative behavior and supports confrontations.
  7. Ensures proper safe physical management techniques are used at all times.
  8. Completes required reports and documentation in a timely manner, provides management with required reports and advises of any problematic situations.
  9. Complies with and implements the Rite of Passage Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals/handbooks.
  10. Ensures the highest standards are maintained to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct and to ensure the program remains in compliance with agency licensing and Rite of Passage policies and procedures.
  11. Attends and participates in all required meetings.
  12. Commits to attending all training and staff development classes in order to ensure sufficient hours of training on an annual basis. Notifies supervisor if annual training hours are deficient.
  13. Other duties as assigned, verbally or in written form to meet the needs of the program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Must complete all requirements to be an “Approved Volunteer” before coming on site and being left alone with students.
  2. Must complete the Volunteer/Intern Application and Volunteer Agreement, sign and commit to the Oath of Confidentiality, Code of Ethics, Acknowledgement of Background Process, Acknowledgement of Child Abuse and The Drug Free Policies, Authorization for the Release of Medical Information.
  3. Must be 21 years of age unless pre-authorization has been provided by the Program Director.
  4. Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check and drug screen.
  5. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  6. Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing.
  7. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
