Production Technician III – Aseptic Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

Location: Decatur, IL

About Us

Rising Pharmaceuticals, a leading manufacturer of high-quality pharmaceutical products, is seeking an experienced Production Technician III to join our Manufacturing team in Decatur, Illinois. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining high-speed sterile filling equipment while ensuring strict compliance with cGMP and aseptic manufacturing standards.


Position Summary

The Production Technician III will work in a sterile/aseptic environment performing machine change-overs, technical adjustments, and maintenance to ensure maximum efficiency and adherence to quality standards. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong technical/mechanical background in sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing and the ability to troubleshoot high-speed filling & stoppering lines.


Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on solution filling lines, vial cappers, and tray loading lines.

  • Execute sterile solution filtration processes.

  • Operate autoclaves, vial/ampoule washers, and dry heat ovens for aseptic processing.

  • Conduct in-process quality checks: fill weight, headspace oxygen, torque testing, etc.

  • Complete batch record documentation accurately and in compliance with SOPs and cGMP standards.

  • Perform equipment cleaning and prepare filling gear for multiple operations.

  • Support new equipment validation and participate in pre-FAT testing (occasional travel).

  • Train and mentor junior technicians; act as a shift lead in supervisor’s absence.

  • Maintain cleanroom hygiene standards and comply with safety protocols.


Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)
  • 3–5 years of pharmaceutical manufacturing experience, with at least 2 years at Technician II level.

  • Proven technical skills in machine change-over, alignment, troubleshooting, and maintenance — preferably in a sterile manufacturing environment.

  • Experience operating and adjusting high-speed filling and stoppering lines.

  • Working knowledge of cGMP guidelines.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude with ability to use tools and measure fill accuracy.

  • Ability to work in cleanrooms and adhere to aseptic techniques (can be trained with the right technical foundation).


Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Prior sterile/aseptic manufacturing experience highly preferred.

  • Experience with cleanroom gowning and aseptic operations.

  • Advanced mechanical training.


Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Able to stand/walk for extended periods, lift 10–20 lbs., and push heavy carts.

  • Comfortable working around moving machinery, hot surfaces (up to 265°C), and handling caustic/carcinogenic materials with PPE.

  • Willingness to work in varying climates of wet, humid, cool, or dry controlled conditions.
