Talent HRizon is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Mechanical (Plumbing/HVAC) Engineer to join a well-established South Florida MEP engineering consulting firm with a strong reputation for delivering innovative engineering solutions on some of the region's most recognizable commercial, multifamily, hospitality, mixed-use, and high-rise developments.


This is an opportunity to work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team while contributing to complex projects from concept through construction.


Position Overview

We're seeking a technically strong Mechanical Engineer with experience designing plumbing and mechanical building systems within an MEP consulting environment. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, collaborating across disciplines, and producing high-quality construction documents that support successful project delivery.

This position offers exposure to large-scale commercial and residential developments throughout South Florida while providing long-term career growth within an established engineering organization.


What You'll Do

  • Design plumbing and mechanical systems for commercial, multifamily, hospitality, mixed-use, and high-rise developments.
  • Prepare permit-ready construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Design:
  • Domestic water systems
  • Sanitary waste and vent systems
  • Storm drainage systems
  • Gas piping systems
  • HVAC systems
  • Ventilation and exhaust systems
  • Perform engineering calculations, including:
  • Plumbing fixture calculations
  • Water demand calculations
  • Pipe sizing
  • Mechanical load calculations
  • Ventilation calculations
  • Coordinate closely with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, civil engineers, and fire protection engineers.
  • Participate in client meetings and multidisciplinary project coordination.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Support construction administration and field observations.
  • Ensure all engineering designs comply with Florida Building Code, Florida Mechanical Code, Florida Plumbing Code, NFPA standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and local jurisdiction requirements.
  • Maintain quality standards while managing multiple concurrent projects.


What We're Looking For

Required

  • 5+ years of Mechanical and/or Plumbing Engineering experience within an MEP consulting environment.
  • Experience designing commercial building systems.
  • Strong proficiency with Revit.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Construction document production experience.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC and plumbing systems.
  • Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Fort Lauderdale.


Preferred

  • Mechanical/HVAC design experience.
  • High-rise project experience.
  • Hospitality, multifamily, mixed-use, or commercial project experience.
  • Construction administration experience.
  • Knowledge of Florida Building Code.
  • South Florida consulting experience.
  • Engineer Intern (EIT) certification.
