Job description

Field Service Mechanic

Riggs Tree Service

Riggs Tree Service is hiring an experienced Field Service Mechanic to join our team. We are looking for a dependable, safety-minded mechanic who can keep our equipment running and our crews productive in the field.

$2,000 Sign-On Bonus

Applicants who bring their own tools are eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus, paid in increments over the first six months of employment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment in the field
  • Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled services
  • Repair hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diesel systems
  • Service and repair equipment used by ROW/tree-service crews, including trucks, chippers, aerial equipment, loaders, and other machinery
  • Respond to field breakdowns and get equipment safely back into operation
  • Identify needed parts and communicate repair needs clearly
  • Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
  • Keep service equipment, tools, and work areas organized
  • Follow company and industry safety procedures
  • Work independently while supporting field crews and operations
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a diesel, heavy-equipment, fleet, or field service mechanic preferred
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mobile equipment
  • Ability to perform repairs in field conditions
  • Must be dependable, self-motivated, and safety-conscious
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position
  • Must provide your own tools to qualify for the $2,000 sign-on bonus
