Crawler Crane Operator $1425+ w/OT WEEKLY Join SAVARD Personnel Group - where your skills are valued! Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious crawler crane operator to join our team in New Iberia, LA. In this role, you will safely operate lattice boom crawler cranes to load, unload, and stockpile heavy steel pipe from barges, marine vessels, railcars, and trucks. This position operates in a fast-paced waterfront environment requiring precise load placement, strict adherence to maritime and oilfield safety regulations, and efficient teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Crane Operations: Safely operate heavy lattice boom crawler cranes to execute critical lifts involving large-diameter steel pipe and oilfield equipment.
  • Barge & Vessel Logistics: Coordinate directly with deckhands and marine crews to safely load and unload cargo at waterfront docks.
  • Material Management: Move, stack, and precisely stage raw or coated pipe across the logistics yard to maximize efficiency and safety.
  • Daily Inspections: Conduct comprehensive pre-trip and daily inspections on tracks, cables, fluids, and safety devices. Document findings per company policy.
  • Rigging & Communication: Work seamlessly with riggers, using standardized hand and radio signals.
  • Safety Leadership: Actively participate in daily job safety analyses (JSA) and maintain a "stop work authority" mindset to mitigate yard hazards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certification: Active NCCCO certification with a lattice boom crawler (LBC).
  • Experience: Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience operating crawler cranes, with strong preference given to candidates with pipe yard, marine dock, or oilfield rig-moving experience.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Deep understanding of OSHA, API RP 2D, and ASME crane safety standards.
  • Licensing: Valid driver's license required.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts outdoors in extreme South Louisiana weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain). Must be able to climb, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
