SUMMARY
The primary purpose of a Ride Operator is to ensure the safety of all guests and team members by following standard operating procedures for rides, monitoring behaviors in the ride area to prevent unsafe activities, and by enforcing rider regulations in a positive manner. This is a seasonal position, reporting to the Rides Manager.
Park's operational summer hours are typically Sunday through Tuesday 12pm to 8pm and Wednesday through Saturday 12pm to 9pm. During the parks season, evening and weekend hours are required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Verify that the daily ride inspection sheet is completed and signed before opening ride
  • Prepare ride area for opening and closing each day, may include test runs of the ride
  • Check and enforce all ride height regulations
  • Collect correct amount of ride tickets from guests and put in canister or check for accurate all-day wristband
  • Follow standard operating procedure for ride to operate ride in a safe manner, including loading and unloading guests
  • Closely observe ride and riders to ensure safe operation including checking ride safety restraints
  • Report problems to supervisor immediately, such as situations relating to facility operations, patron complaints or concerns, accidents, emergency situations, damages, and potential safety hazards
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations
  • Ride operator must remain cell phone and smart device free at all times inside ride area

  • Candidate should possess strong communication skills, high degree of integrity, positive attitude, attention to detail and the ability to solve problems
  • Position will require candidate to frequent walk, stand, and bend over to check safety restraints
  • Position will require the candidate to be working in an outdoor environment around high noise levels
  • Candidate should have the ability to learn and apply ticket handling procedures
  • Candidate should have the ability to build strong relationships with guests, provide a high level of guest service, and be an effective member of a team
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong customer service skills, both internal and external

  • Exceptional communication skills while relating to people in a friendly, professional manner
  • Self-motivated; acts without needing directions
  • Perform cleaning duties as needed to maintain a clean, safe work environment, including seats, cars/trains, ride platform, and guest line area. This may include sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, polishing, power washing, vacuuming, waxing, and picking up trash.
