CNC Designer / Programmer / Operator – Digital Design & Fabrication

Bayliss Boatworks is seeking a CNC Designer / Programmer / Operator to join our Digital Design & Fabrication team. This role bridges design and fabrication, taking concepts and turning them into accurate, production-ready parts using CAD/CAM software and CNC machinery. You'll work closely with multiple departments to support the construction of our world-class custom sportfishing yachts.

Success in this position requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of yacht construction phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create 3D CAD files based on design input from supervisors and managers
  • Process and design assemblies using Rhino and/or SolidWorks
  • Program and operate CNC machines: C.R. Onsrud 3-axis & 5-axis routers to produce wood, composite, aluminum, and stainless-steel parts
  • Develop efficient and creative toolpaths to optimize material usage and machine capabilities
  • Maintain CNC equipment and follow preventative maintenance schedules
  • Collaborate with other with design and other departments to meet project needs and timelines

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3–5 years of CAD/CAM and CNC machining experience
  • Proficiency in Rhino and MasterCAM (SolidWorks a plus)
  • Experience working with wood, composites, aluminum, and stainless steel
  • Strong understanding of 3-axis and 5-axis toolpaths and operations
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve independently
  • Ability to read complex design data and work independently
  • Boatbuilding and leadership experience are preferred but not required
