Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. This role involves developing detailed mechanical and structural designs on a project-by-project basis, working closely with a multidisciplinary project team. The successful candidate will execute all design activities, perform structural analysis, and support purchasing and manufacturing teams with assembly construction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed mechanical and structural designs for various projects.
  • Create process plant and structural steel skid-mounted unit assembly drawings and plant general arrangement drawings.
  • Perform structural analysis and part modeling, maintaining the part library.
  • Develop part specifications and assembly bills of materials.
  • Support purchasing and manufacturing teams with activities related to assembly construction.
  • Develop detailed assembly field installation instructions.
  • Coordinate activities with the shop to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
  • Conduct shop inspections and document results.
  • Demonstrate multi-tasking skills to manage concurrent design and development efforts.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to clarify instructions and coordinate work.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as requested and follow any additional instructions as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs.
  • 2-5 years of mechanical design experience.
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Expertise in modeling process piping and structural steel assemblies using Autodesk.
  • Ability to implement customer piping and other specifications during the design process.
  • Strong knowledge of process equipment such as pressure vessels, pumps, pipes, valves, fittings, and structural steel shapes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD, PID, and 3D modeling.
  • Excellent computer skills, with a strong proficiency in Autodesk, including Frame Generator and Tube & Pipe modules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The work environment includes a standard office setting, field construction sites, and a manufacturing/factory environment. This role offers a great opportunity for advancement, with mentorship and teaching provided by the team.
