Position Summary

Gigstreem is seeking a highly motivated Field Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our wireless broadband network infrastructure throughout the Greater Boston area.

This role is heavily focused on fixed wireless technologies and requires hands-on experience installing and maintaining antennas, waveguides, microwave dishes, wireless access points, routers, switches, and associated network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong RF troubleshooting skills, enterprise networking experience, and the ability to work on rooftops, elevated structures, commercial buildings, and multi-dwelling communities. 

Key Responsibilities

Wireless & RF Infrastructure

  • Install, align,maintain, and troubleshoot fixed wireless broadband infrastructure, including antennas, waveguides, microwave dishes, wireless backhaul systems, routers, switches, and wireless access points (WAPs). 
  • Deploy and support wireless networking solutionsutilizingJuniper, Ruckus, Cambium, and similar enterprise-class networking platforms. 
  • Perform antenna alignment, RF testing, signal analysis, microwave link validation, and wireless network optimization activities. 
  • Install andmaintainrooftop, building-mounted, and elevated wireless infrastructure to support network expansion and reliability. 
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, RF performance, and network service issuesimpactingcustomers and network operations.

Network & Cabling Operations

  • Pull,terminate, test, and certify Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, Cat7, and fiber optic cabling. 
  • Install and troubleshoot fiber optic, structured cabling, and low-voltage telecommunications systems. 
  • Rack, stack, label, and support troubleshooting of network switching and routing equipment within MDF and IDF environments. 
  • Perform network testing and diagnostics toidentifyand resolve service-impacting issues. 

Site Surveys & Quality Assurance

  • Conduct property assessments, site surveys, launch readiness evaluations, and serviceability reviews. 
  • Perform Wi-Fi heat mapping, wireless coverage analysis, and quality assurance inspections. 
  • Ensure all installations meet company quality standards and customer expectations. 

Safety & Field Operations

  • Follow and enforce company safety policies and procedures while working on rooftops, ladders, elevated structures, and telecommunications equipment. 
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and inventory.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support after-hourstroubleshooting and emergency service restoration. 
  • Work safely and effectively in varying weather conditions and field environments. 

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Wireless Technician, Telecommunications Technician, Tower Technician, Low Voltage Technician, or similar role. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced field environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience installing and supporting fixed wireless broadband networks. 
  • Hands-on experience with antennas, waveguides, microwave dishes, wireless backhaul systems, switches, WAPs, and wireless routers. 
  • Experience with Juniper switches, Ruckus wireless solutions, Cambium equipment, and enterprise networking technologies. 
  • Working knowledge of RF technologies, microwave communications, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX networks. 
  • Experience working on rooftops, towers, or elevated communications structures. 
  • Experience with fiber optics, AC/DC power systems, and low-voltage telecommunications infrastructure. 
  • Familiarity with Wi-Fi heat mapping, signal testing, and wireless coverage validation. 
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
