Welcome to DAS Technology Group; we are specialized recruiters for the RF/Microwave & Defense/Space Industry. We are working on behalf of our client who designs, develops, and manufactures sophisticated microwave/RF components and integrated assemblies for a wide variety of exciting commercial and military applications. Our client invests heavily in research and development to maintain the ability to offer the world's most advanced MW/RF capabilities for current and emerging challenges.
They are looking to hire a RF & Microwave Design Engineering Manager for their Sacramento location with the following experience:
The RF & Microwave Design Engineer Manager will:
  • Lead an RF & Microwave Design Engineering team in the design and development of complex solid-state power amplifiers (SSPAs) and multi-function modules (MFMs) for defense and space applications with functionality to include wideband frequency converters, synthesizers, high-isolation switches, noise sources, phase shifters, power detectors, Solid State Power Amplifiers, and variable gain amplifiers.
  • Manage personnel development, new business proposals, and the successful design, development, and production release / transition of new products
  • Manage employee development & operational improvements of the SSPA and Space Component design group in support of company goals & objectives. Participate in recruiting & team development.
  • Technical responsibilities include leading the design of RF architectures and systems using chain analysis and frequency planning tools (primarily using VSS).
  • Design of RF components using ADS, MWO, HFSS, Sonnet, Spice or Cadence.
  • Evaluation and selection of devices appropriate to the applications and meeting the customer requirements-this includes design or usage of LNA, PA, filters, mixers, frequency multipliers, isolators, couplers, and phase locked oscillator and synthesizers.
  • Perform trade studies for noise figure, power compression, spurious, and bandwidth.
  • Perform hardware layout, component evaluation, prototype construction, and test.
  • Prepare test methods and specifications, analyze and test hardware to verify performance.
  • Lead PDR, CDR, PRR design reviews and give presentations to management and customers. Lead project design teams.
  • Provide guidance on technology trends and help drive our industry competitiveness, especially as it pertains to SWaP improvements.

Required Skills:
  • Extensive experience with devices, circuitry, and systems operating at RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave frequencies.
  • Ability to design circuitry for high frequency receivers, transmitters, and signal generation. Experience with design tools such as MWO, ADS, HFSS, Sonnet, Spice, or Cadence.
  • Knowledge of signal routing and packaging technologies for devices and subassemblies.
  • Ability to conceptualize initial component and system designs with schematics and block diagrams; lead project team execution of assembly, test, debug, and optimization; and organizing results for design reviews and customer presentations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with excellent speaking, writing, and presentation skills.

Qualifications:
  • BSEE required, MSEE preferred.
  • 15+ years' work experience in the Microwave & RF industry at microwave and millimeter-wave frequencies.
  • Experience with Space Products a plus.
  • Previous experience managing & developing technical employees.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with ability to find creative and innovative solutions.
  • Strong lab skills using test equipment, and ability to tune and align circuitry.
  • Ability to use Matlab, Mathcad, or programming languages to perform complex analyses.
  • Must be proficient with electrical design software such as AWR's Microwave Office or ADS.
  • Familiarity with HFSS, CST, and/or Sonnet for EM simulation would be a plus.
  • Must have excellent communications skills. Will participate in the preparation of technical proposals to support new business opportunities.
  • Will frequently be asked to present to customers and executive management.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team, and be flexible within a dynamic environment.
