FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a Field Application Engineer to support sales and customer engagement efforts by serving as a technical resource for customers, sales representatives, distributors, and internal teams. This role is responsible for understanding customer design requirements, recommending appropriate semiconductor products and solutions, supporting pre- and post-sales technical discussions, and helping drive design activity, design wins, and long-term sales growth. The ideal candidate will have strong semiconductor product knowledge, customer-facing technical experience, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with key customer technical decision makers, engineers, and influencers
  • Working directly with customers to understand system-level and component-level design requirements
  • Recommending appropriate semiconductor products and solutions based on customer applications
  • Providing pre- and post-sales technical support
  • Supporting product selection, application guidance, component evaluation, board-level testing, and troubleshooting
  • Collaborating with sales, engineering, quality, operations, and production teams to address customer design challenges and technical questions
  • Communicating customer requirements back to internal engineering, quality, operations, and sales teams
  • Supporting design-in and design-win activity by promoting products, tracking customer opportunities, and helping move technical opportunities through the sales cycle
  • Developing and presenting customer-facing technical materials, including presentations, application notes, design guides, technical papers, product documentation, and training materials
  • Providing product and application-level training to sales teams, representatives, distributors, and customers
  • Representing the company at customer visits, trade shows, symposiums, and technical or industry events
  • Supporting customer product qualifications, technical discussions, and application reviews
  • Traveling domestically and internationally to support customer meetings, trade shows, and technical engagements
  • Performing other duties as assigned

The selected candidate will also possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field required
  • Equivalent directly related experience may be considered
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in applications engineering, field applications engineering, product engineering, design engineering, or a related technical role preferred
  • Knowledge of discrete semiconductors and related components required
  • Experience with diodes, rectifiers, transistors, MOSFETs, protection devices, or related components preferred
  • Prior customer-facing engineering experience in a field applications, technical sales, or sales engineering role preferred
  • Experience supporting design-in and design-win activity with OEMs, distributors, representatives, or strategic accounts preferred
  • Familiarity with detailed customer specifications, including electrical and mechanical specifications
  • Ability to perform basic electronic circuit analysis to support component selection
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience preparing and delivering technical presentations
  • Experience developing technical papers, application notes, training materials, product guides, or customer-facing technical documentation preferred
  • Familiarity with failure analysis, quality investigations, corrective action support, and customer product qualifications preferred
  • Experience presenting at trade shows, symposiums, technical conferences, or customer training events preferred
  • Experience working with aerospace and defense customers preferred
  • Ability to work onsite in Hauppauge, NY
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 30% to 50% of the time
  • US Person status required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while reviewing technical documentation, customer specifications, presentations, reports, and product information
  • Ability to communicate by phone, email, video meeting, and in person throughout the workday
  • Ability to review electrical specifications, mechanical specifications, technical data, application notes, product documentation, and computer screens for extended periods
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for typing, documentation, presentations, data entry, and standard engineering or office tasks
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout office, engineering, lab, trade show, or customer site environments as needed
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for customer meetings, trade shows, technical events, and onsite engagements

Salary Range: $110,000 to $140,000/year + 8% bonus
