Job description

Lead Mechanic/Asst. Shop Manager inspects, services, and maintains heavy-duty construction equipment. The Lead Mechanic/Asst. Shop Manager is responsible for driving to the job site, inspecting engines and equipment, carrying out services, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance to the construction fleet. Generally, the duties performed by Lead Mechanic/Asst. Shop Manager are shown in the job description example below:
  • Driving to the job site.
  • Inspecting trucks, excavators, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance.
  • Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment.
  • Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance.
  • Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts.
  • Repairing damaged equipment parts.
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty vehicles.
