Job description

Job Summary


The drafter II is responsible for supporting the production and coordination of engineering and design deliverables through advanced AutoCAD and Revit expertise. This role serves as a technical resource for project teams by maintaining drafting standards, supporting BIM coordination, developing drafting tools, performing quality control, and ensuring project documentation meets client requirements. The successful candidate is a self-motivated professional capable of working independently while mentoring designers and collaborating with project managers, engineers, and clients.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in AutoCAD with minimal supervision.
  • Produce accurate, consistent, and high-quality drawing packages.
  • Maintain consistent formatting across all project drawings.
  • Configure AutoCAD settings, including plotting, preferences, tool palettes, templates, and workspace configurations.
  • Troubleshoot AutoCAD issues for designers and engineers.
  • Support the development and maintenance of drafting standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Revit with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain consistent formatting and documentation standards across Revit models.
  • Create, modify, and maintain Revit families for current and future projects.
  • Configure Revit settings, including printing, templates, preferences, and tool palettes.
  • Troubleshoot Revit-related issues for project teams.
  • Assist with BIM workflow improvements and model management.
  • Coordinate BIM meetings with Project Managers.
  • Facilitate Navisworks clash detection meetings.
  • Track clash detection action items and maintain Action Request (AR) logs.
  • Support interdisciplinary model coordination throughout project development.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with client CAD and BIM standards.
  • Maintain client standards for: layering, linetypes, annotation styles, sheet naming conventions, title blocks, Xref management.
  • Coordinate with client database or standards groups to maintain current standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to designers regarding standards compliance.
  • Create and maintain project sheet sets.
  • Utilize and improve company drafting templates and setup tools.
  • Develop and maintain drafting resources including: templates, blocks, Revit families, sheet setup tools, standard details.
  • Implement design revisions from engineer and designer redlines.
  • Mentor team members on redline interpretation and drafting best practices.
  • Perform QA/QC audits at key project milestones.
  • Coordinate corrections with designers and engineers to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Maintain project folder structures and drawing references.
  • Manage title block and logo Xrefs.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers regarding project schedules and deliverables.
  • Track drafting-related Action Requests (ARs) and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Participate in project planning meetings.
  • Communicate project status and potential risks to the project team.
  • Monitor and respond to the Design Drafting inbox in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and filing systems.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of drafting workflows and standards.


Qualifications:


  • Associate's degree in Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of experience using AutoCAD in an engineering or construction environment.
  • Two or more years of Revit experience.
  • Experience with BIM coordination and Navisworks.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Advanced AutoCAD and Revit proficiency.
  • Strong understanding of BIM workflows.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to drafting quality.
