Job description

Purpose of Position/Summary:

The Returns Team Leader is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the Returns Department, which is responsible for the processing, tracking, quality inspection and repackaging of all returned & packaging product.  This position reports directly to the Returns Group Leader/Supervisor

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure each repackaging line’s production is efficient and accurate;
  • Ensure the correct parts have been received for each return;
  • Inspect returned shocks/struts for quality, damage, color change, obsolete and defects;
  • Ensure repackaged shocks/struts from each line are labeled and packaged correctly;
  • Assist in managing all Returns Department inventory and transfers;
  • Assist in training and development of department associates in regards to processes, procedures and safety;
  • Ensure all product transferred to Finished Goods inventory is placed into the correct bins;
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager on an as needed basis.
  • Maintain a clean and safe department work area.

Job Requirements:

This position requires a high school diploma or GED from an accredited organization.  Basic Excel experience is required.  S2K or database experience preferred.  Returns, Reverse Logistics, distribution center and/or warehouse experience is preferred.  Must have the ability to work with urgency and manage pressure and work well with other associates.  This position requires excellent communication and multi-tasking skills.  This position requires basic product and packaging knowledge.  This position is required to work overtime & weekends as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This position has 8 – 17 Returns Associates reporting to it.

Difficulty of Work:

Adhering to the departmental processes and procedures is very important to the success of the Returns Department and Distribution Center.  Any suggestions for improvement are welcomed and considered.  Due to the multiple tasks, number of associates and priorities managed by this position, complexity of position is moderately high.

Responsibility:

This position ensures all returns are correctly processed, inventoried, tracked, inspected, repackaged, transferred and bin located.  If determined to be scrap, parts are placed in the correct returns bin location, tracked and inventoried until disposal.  Position requires that all inventory adjustments are correctly made in the S2K system.

Personal Work Relationships:

Personal working relationships consist of working with associates, team and group leaders and management.  All working relationships are professional and are expected to be maintained at a professional level.

Physical Effort:

This position must have the ability to stand for long periods throughout the shift.  This position requires the ability to lift 10 - 50 lbs. occasionally with or without reasonable accommodations. This position requires twisting and turning occasionally throughout the shift. 

Working Conditions:

Working conditions consist of a normal distribution center/warehouse environment.  This position works in a cold or hot environment (climate is depends on the current weather).  Normal PPE consist of steel toes shoes. Other PPE requirements consist of wearing safety glasses when operating the strut/shock compressor. Special attention to the work environment and area surrounding the equipment is critical.  All equipment such as strut/shock compressor, tape machine, monitors and tablets must be turned off at the end of the working shift.  Tape machine must be turned off when maintenance is required.
