What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a retro?

To thrive as a Retrospective Facilitator, you need a solid understanding of Agile principles, group facilitation techniques, and experience in continuous improvement processes. Familiarity with collaboration tools like Miro, MURAL, or Jira, as well as certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), are often beneficial. What is a retro?

In a workplace context, 'Retro' usually refers to 'retrospective' meetings, commonly held in Agile teams. These are not jobs themselves, but rather sessions where team members reflect on recent work cycles to discuss what went well, what could be improved, and how to enhance future performance. However, some organizations may use 'Retro' as a shorthand for roles involved in organizing or facilitating these meetings, such as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach. The primary responsibility is to guide teams through constructive feedback and continuous improvement. Understanding and facilitating retrospectives is important for fostering a collaborative and adaptive work environment.
