Position Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to answer and direct telephone calls, greet guests and perform administrative duties in accordance with established procedures and as directed by your supervisor.
Essential Functions:
  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior customer service or administrative experience.
  • Must possess excellent business grammar and communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft office and internet.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand the English language and speak it in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the essential functions of the position can be fully met.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.
  • Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel, as well as be willing to communicate with residents based at whatever behavior or acuity level they are currently functioning.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Must be able to maintain regular attendance.
  • Must submit to a TB test as required by law.
As a Receptionist you can expect to:
  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, welcome and positive emphasis.
  • Takes an active role as part of the administration team, helping with all administrative tasks when necessary including, filing, copying, mailings, composing and typing confidential/medical material and formatting/revising existing documents using computer word processing and electronic medical records software.
  • Answers multi-line telephone; determines nature of call and directs caller to appropriate individual or department.
  • Receives inquiries from staff, residents and guests and releases information in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Takes the initiative to think of new ideas and processes to help both residents and staff.
  • Assists residents as requested/needed with transportation, meal reservations/payments and nursing needs.
  • Ensures guests/visitors follow existing rules and reports suspicious persons/information to Security.
