Associate, Database Platform Development

Role Summary

We are seeking an Associate Database Platform Developer to help design, build, and maintaindatabasecentrictooling and services that improve scalability, reliability, and developer productivity across the database estate. This role sits within the Database Platform Development function and focuses on software development, automation, and platform enablement rather than traditionaldaytodaydatabase administration.

The role works closely with senior engineers, application teams, and infrastructure partners to modernize legacy tooling, automate operational workflows, and support database platform initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Platform and Tooling Development

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal database tooling, services, and automation used for provisioning, access management, schema changes, and operational validation.

  • Develop and enhance scripts, services, and utilities using Python, Perl, Java, or similar languages under the guidance of senior engineers.

  • Support ongoing modernization efforts byassistingwith migration of legacy scripts and workflows into more scalable,servicebasedorAPIdrivensolutions.

Database Engineering Support

  • Assistapplication teams withdatabaserelateddevelopment needs, including schema design support, SQL review, and adherence to database development standards.

  • Help implement andmaintainguardrails, validations, and checks that promote performance, reliability, and security across database platforms.

  • Learn and apply best practices across relational and cloud database technologies.

Automation and Reliability

  • Support automation efforts focused on reducing manual operational work and improving consistency across environments.

  • Participate in incident analysis and contribute code fixes or tooling enhancements that prevent recurrence.

  • Help improve observability and transparency of database platforms through logging, monitoring integration, and tooling enhancements.

Collaboration and Growth

  • Work collaboratively with global DBA, platform, and application engineering teams across time zones.

  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and teamknowledgesharingforums.

  • Build technical depth across database platforms, development practices, and enterprise tooling.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Perl, or Java.

  • Basic understanding of relational database concepts including tables, indexes, transactions, and SQL.
