DescriptionCastle Rock Medical Center is looking for a part-time Registered Nurse to join the team (will consider an LPN).Summary of JobThe Registered Nurse works in close harmony with physicians, PAs, NPs, receptionists, laboratory and radiology technicians to ensure efficient and high-quality patient care. This position carries out physician orders while exhibiting initiative and sound judgment in the absence of specific physician direction. The Registered Nurse must anticipate physician needs, maintain a steady and timely flow of patients, and ensure that those presenting with emergent problems are seen first. This role also assists Castle Rock Hospital District departments with educational in-services, immunization clinics, and infection control efforts, and requires a strong commitment to patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Essential Job FunctionsPatient Care & Assessment- Escort patients to the proper exam room and prepare them for examination and procedures as ordered by the physician or PA.
- Take and record patient history in the electronic health record.
- Assess and record vital signs, height, and weight in the electronic health record.
- Observe, record, and report information, signs, and symptoms pertinent to the patient's condition and care.
- Triage patients and prioritize care based on acuity and presenting needs.
- Assist with examinations and procedures as directed by the physician or PA.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Medication & Treatment Administration- Administer all medications, including injections, as ordered by a physician.
- Initiate, record, monitor, and discontinue IV therapy as ordered by a physician.
- Maintain accurate records of all injections and other medications administered and distributed, including oral and topical medications.
- Maintain accurate records of all narcotics in stock and distributed, including injections.
- Maintain proper lockup of all controlled substances.
- Call in prescriptions to the pharmacy as delegated by the provider.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Clinical Support & Coordination- Fill out necessary requisitions for referrals to other departments.
- Assist with scheduling hospital and specialist referrals and set up referrals to other agencies.
- Notify the hospital of patient referrals or transfers.
- Check daily lab and radiology results and make follow-up phone calls as necessary.
- Make follow-up phone calls as directed by a physician.
- Take and place phone calls and messages for the physician.
- Assist with immunization clinics when requested.
- Assist in other departments as appropriate.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Environment & Documentation- Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for necessary procedures.
- Maintain adequate stock in exam and treatment rooms and notify supervisor when supplies are low.
- Prepare and clean exam rooms between patients.
- Maintain sanitary conditions in the department at all times.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment after use.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of patient files in the electronic health record.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation- Associate degree in Nursing with acceptable experience in an ambulatory care or tertiary care setting required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Licensure & Certifications- Valid Wyoming Registered Nurse license required; graduate nurses will be considered.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification through the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or ASHI required.
Skills & Abilities- Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with physicians and Castle Rock Hospital District employees.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Ability to exhibit initiative and sound clinical judgment in the absence of specific physician direction.
- Ability to anticipate physician needs and maintain a steady, timely flow of patients.

Wage & Benefits- Pay scale for RN starts at $32.18/hour up to $35.14/hour depending on experience. Pay scale for LPN starts at $22.93/hour up to $24.63/hour depending on experience.
