Job description

Bordertown Novelties is a unique local retail shop featuring gifts, novelties, and specialty products — from artisan goods Mexican imports to fun finds and collectibles. We’re looking for an energetic, self-motivated sales professional who knows how to engage customers, drive sales, and create a great shopping experience.

We are open year-round and only closed on Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Easter.

Because we are especially busy during holiday breaks and the entire month of March, we do not allow time off or vacations during those periods.

What You’ll Do

  • Greet and assist customers while creating a welcoming, upbeat atmosphere

  • Actively promote featured and seasonal products to increase sales

  • Learn the products and make personalized recommendations

  • Set up in-store displays and maintain organized, visually appealing merchandise areas

  • Handle point-of-sale transactions accurately (Square POS experience a plus)

  • Meet or exceed weekly daily and monthly sales goals

  • Help create local buzz through social media or in-store events (optional but a big plus!

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous retail or sales experience required — preferably in a boutique, gift shop, or specialty retail setting

  • Outgoing, personable, and confident communicator

  • Self-starter who enjoys setting and achieving goals

  • Reliable, trustworthy, and professional
