Von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort, Stowe, VT

Von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort in Stowe, Vermont sits on 2,600 acres with stunning mountain views year-round. We deliver warm, friendly, professional service, providing a luxurious yet unpretentious experience that makes our guests feel at home.

On our property, we have several retail store experiences, including the von Trapp Brewing Bierhall, Lodge Gift Shop, and Outdoor Center.


Position: Retail Sales Associate (Full-Time)

Hours: 30–40 hours per week
Location: Gift Shop located in the von Trapp Lodge

Schedule:

  • Tuesday-Friday: 11:30 AM – 9:00 PM (to closing)
  • Sat- Mon off

Position Overview

A Retail Sales Associate provides excellent customer service, processes sales using POS systems, maintains store cleanliness, and restocks merchandise. Responsibilities include greeting customers, answering product questions, and resolving issues to ensure a positive shopping experience.

This role requires a strong sense of urgency, self-motivation, and the ability to take direction while working independently.


Core Responsibilities and Duties
  • Customer Service: Greet customers, provide product information, and offer recommendations.
  • Sales Transactions: Process payments (cash and credit), returns, and exchanges accurately using POS systems.
  • Merchandising: Restock shelves and organize displays.
  • Store Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment. Keep sales floors tidy and shelves dust-free.
  • Inventory Control: Assist with receiving shipments, picking up inventory from the on-site warehouse, restocking, and conducting inventory counts.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and team members.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills for processing transactions and giving change.
  • Flexibility: Availability to work varied hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift, push, or pull moderate weights (up to 50 lbs).
  • Product Knowledge: Willingness to learn about products to advise customers effectively.

Our Ideal Candidate Is Willing To
  • Train in Yellow Dog inventory software used for receiving merchandise shipments.
  • Assist in all von Trapp retail outlets (Outdoor Center, Lodge Gift Shop, and Bierhall) as needed during shifts.
  • Take on additional hours during foliage season (August – October) and prepare for reduced hours during mud season (April – May).

Qualifications
  • High school education
  • Previous experience in retail or customer service is a plus
  • Familiarity with POS (Point of Sale) systems
