Purpose of Position:


Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monte®, Contadina® and S&W®. We are currently seeking a Harvest Operations Boss.


The Harvest Operations Boss (HOB) is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and supporting harvesting equipment while coordinating daily field operations during the production season. This position provides technical leadership to seasonal harvest personnel, ensures harvesting equipment is operating safely and efficiently, and supports field operations through preventative maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, work coordination, and inventory management. Performance is measured by equipment reliability, operational efficiency, safety, quality, and the successful coordination of seasonal harvest activities.


Accountabilities:


Harvest Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Coordinate daily harvest equipment readiness to support production schedules.
  • Assign daily work activities and coordinate priorities for seasonal harvest and cart operators.
  • Monitor field operations to ensure harvesting activities are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Communicate equipment status, operational concerns, and repair priorities with field leadership.
  • Support coordination between field operations and processing plant personnel.
  • Rebuild harvesters and dumpcarts during offseason to ensure performance is maintained at a high level. 


Team Leadership & Employee Support

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and technical support to seasonal harvest employees.
  • Train and mentor operators on equipment operation, maintenance awareness, and safe work practices.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and effective communication throughout harvest operations.
  • Assist leadership with scheduling priorities and workforce coordination during harvest.
  • Support onboarding and training of new seasonal employees.

 

Equipment, Inventory & Administrative Support

  • Maintain equipment service records, CropTrak documentation, and other maintenance records.
  • Create purchase orders and coordinate parts procurement supporting harvest operations.
  • Monitor parts inventory and recommend replenishment to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Maintain organized field shop work areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Support special projects and additional operational assignments as business needs require.

 

Safety, Quality & Regulatory Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies, field safety requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout procedures during maintenance and repair activities.
  • Identify, communicate, and correct unsafe conditions affecting employees or equipment.
  • Promote safe equipment operation while maintaining product quality and harvest efficiency.
  • Support compliance with company quality standards and field operational requirements.


Minimum Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Agricultural equipment maintenance or heavy equipment mechanical experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance and equipment repair.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate seasonal employees while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation, purchasing, and reporting.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts during harvest season.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
  • Previous leadership or lead worker experience.
  • CDL preferred.
  • Experience with agricultural harvesting equipment.
  • Experience with maintenance management systems or CropTrak.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and inventory control.
  • Welding, torching, and fabrication skills a plus.
