POSITION SUMMARY


The Assistant Store Manager partners with the General Manager to lead all aspects of store operations, including firearms sales, general retail, training services, and range activities. This role serves as a key leader within the store, responsible for driving performance, developing team members, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining a safe, secure, and profitable environment.


The Assistant Store Manager works collaboratively with the General Manager and all team members to uphold Frontier Justice's core values of faith, family, and freedom while delivering a consistent, high-quality client experience.


In the absence of the General Manager, this role assumes full leadership responsibility for the store and is expected to take ownership of store performance, lead by example, and uphold Frontier Justice's standards in all areas of the business.

This position requires availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.


PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES


Achieve Results

  • Drive store performance by executing sales strategies that meet or exceed revenue, conversion, and average ticket goals.
  • Supervise daily retail operations by effectively coordinating staff to deliver exceptional client service and achieve sales targets.
  • Identify current and future client needs through relationship building, strong product knowledge, and awareness of market trends.
  • Actively coach and develop team members to improve performance, product knowledge, and sales effectiveness.
  • Maintain organized, secure, and fully stocked merchandise displays that support sales and enhance the client experience.
  • Support the growth of key business areas, including memberships, training services, and retail sales.


Operational Excellence

  • Ensure strict adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations, including ATF compliance and company policies related to firearms sales and range operations.
  • Oversee inventory processes to maintain accuracy, minimize shrink, and ensure proper control of all merchandise.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe facility across all areas, including retail and range environments, with a high standard for presentation.
  • Execute and enforce all opening and closing procedures with consistency and accountability.
  • Support the facilitation of events, training classes, and promotional initiatives to drive traffic and engagement.
  • Communicate proactively with the General Manager regarding operational performance, maintenance needs, risks, and client feedback.
  • Utilize all technology systems effectively, including POS, scheduling, and reporting tools, to support operations and decision making.

  • Build and maintain strong, cooperative relationships across all departments and levels of the organization.
  • Foster positive and professional relationships with clients, vendors, and partners to support business growth and operational success.

Requirements

Required

  • High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of retail management or supervisory experience in a high volume or specialty retail environment.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive sales performance, and deliver results in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, and working within retail and range environments.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and comply with all federal, state, and local firearms regulations and company policies.

Preferred

  • Experience in firearms retail, range operations, or training environments.
  • Working knowledge of ATF compliance and Form 4473 processes.
  • Experience working in a metrics driven environment with accountability to KPIs such as sales, conversion, and labor efficiency.
  • Proven ability to coach, develop, and promote team members into leadership roles.
  • Experience managing inventory, cycle counts, and loss prevention processes.
  • Familiarity with labor scheduling, payroll management, or labor to revenue targets.
  • Experience driving membership programs, training services, or other recurring revenue streams.
  • Experience with POS, ERP, or workforce management systems, including NetSuite, Paylocity, or similar platforms.
  • Strong alignment with values based leadership and mission driven organizations.
  • Demonstrated readiness or aspiration to grow into a General Manager or multi unit leadership role.
