The Retail Inventory Control Analyst is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy and integrity across all Peter Millar and G/FORE retail stores through analysis, investigation, reporting, and process improvement initiatives. This role identifies root causes of inventory discrepancies, recommends corrective actions, develops inventory control best practices, and partners with retail leadership to improve inventory performance and operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Monitor inventory performance, identify trends, and analyze root causes of discrepancies and shrinkage.
  • Manage inventory data integrity and information flow across KWI, Blue Cherry, Softeon, My Supply Chain, and related systems.
  • Investigate inventory issues, determine root causes, and recommend or implement appropriate corrective actions within established authority.
  • Analyze inventory and shipping discrepancies, assess operational impact, and coordinate resolution plans with relevant partners.
  • Develop and maintain inventory exception reporting and monitoring processes, including negative on-hand balances, outstanding receipts, and shipping audit findings.
  • Partner with store managers, operations specialists, and retail leadership to develop and deliver inventory control training and best practices.
  • Coordinate cycle count programs, review count results, and analyze variances to determine appropriate followโ€‘up actions.
  • Evaluate current inventory processes, identify control gaps, and implement approved process improvements.
  • Develop, document, and maintain inventory control procedures, guardrails, and internal controls that support inventory integrity.
  • Coordinate and support physical inventory programs for both brands, evaluate results, and recommend improvements.
  • Analyze physical inventory variances, complete reconciliations, and recommend or process stock adjustments in accordance with established approval controls.
  • Prepare inventory reporting and variance analysis to support monthโ€‘end close activities related to onโ€‘hand inventory values and activity.
  • Support crossโ€‘functional inventory, controls, and retail operations initiatives as assigned.
COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions while independently prioritizing work, evaluating issues, and advancing solutions.
  • Strong problemโ€‘solving, written communication, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical capability with demonstrated experience identifying trends, root causes, control gaps, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency, including lookup functions, pivot tables, data validation, reconciliation, and analysis of large data sets.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects, maintain attention to detail, and meet deadlines in a changing retail environment.
  • Ability to receive, provide, and act on feedback while communicating recommendations clearly to business partners.
  • Ability to translate inventory data into actionable recommendations and communicate risks, trends, and findings to stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to make decisions or recommendations within established policies and approval limits.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on inventory accuracy, data integrity, and internal controls.
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

2-4 years of experience in inventory control, inventory analysis, retail operations, supply chain, or a related field. Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, Analytics, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Apparel, retail, luxury brand, or omnichannel inventory experience strongly preferred. Experience working with inventory management, warehouse management, or retail pointโ€‘ofโ€‘sale systems preferred. Experience with inventory reconciliation, exception reporting, shrink analysis, or process improvement preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and move throughout retail stores, stockrooms, and inventory areas for extended periods of time. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull merchandise, fixtures, and inventoryโ€‘related materials up to 20 pounds on a regular basis and more with appropriate assistance. Ability to participate in store openings, inventory counts, merchandising projects, and inventory audits, which may require extended periods of physical activity. Ability to travel to retail store locations as needed.
