Retail Event Coordinator

Recent research demonstrates that kindness benefits our physical and mental health, and that recognizing kindness in others increases a person's happiness and satisfaction. But just as solving a calculus problem requires advanced math skills, the challenges of daily life require advanced kindness skills. By focusing on kindness and being intentional in our interactions, we can improve our ability to connect. Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Retail, the Retail Event Coordinator will further the mission of Ben's Bells by overseeing Shop KIND's presence at community events. This position will lead planning and execution of all retail events.
The Retail Event Coordinator focuses on identifying and attending merchandise pop-up events, as well as cultivating relationships with local businesses and community members to raise awareness of the organization's mission and programming while contributing to its sustainable funding.
Responsibilities
Customer Service
  • Act as a first point-of-contact representative for Ben's Bells Project with the ability to share Ben's Bells story
  • Proactively respond to customer service issues and identify when issues need to be escalated
  • Maintain event inventory, cleanliness, and visual integrity, including merchandise displays
  • Drive sales through the engagement of customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge

Sales & Reporting
  • Process merchandise transactions including cash, check, and credit card payments
  • Balance and reconcile cash register/POS system
  • Accurately track and report event-specific KPIs

Events
  • Gather, transport, set up, and tear down all merchandise and display items for off-site pop-up shops
  • Plan and execute merchandising solutions for events, working to continuously improve and adjust displays to various event environments and audiences
  • Respond to all inquiries via email and phone
  • Train, schedule, and supervise merchandise event volunteers
  • Meet monthly and yearly merchandise event revenue targets
  • Proactively seek additional opportunities for retail and outreach events
  • Proactively network with local artists, businesses, and organizations to collaborate on dual-branded merchandise and community event opportunities
  • Plan and execute annual on-site Maker's Market
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally with Marketing, Education, Fundraising, and Studio to create and execute multi-faceted event opportunities
  • Assist with outreach needs of other departments as needed

Essential Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent people skills, including an ability to partner with a diverse team of staff and volunteers and maintain relationships
  • Flexible and able to manage shifting priorities; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment

Requirements
  • Customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment
  • Comfortable using and navigating Microsoft and web-based programs
  • Prior money-handling experience
  • Experience with POS/Inventory Management systems
  • Bilingual skills preferred but not required
  • Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License with a clean driving record and reliable personal transportation
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and comfortably work outdoors
  • Must be available to work a varied schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • This position is full-time at 30 hours per week and will include a combination of time spent at our Downtown Tucson office and off-site at pop-up events
