Job Summary

The MonkeySports Retail Associate III position is designed for seasoned retail professionals who have demonstrated exceptional customer service, advanced product knowledge, and the ability to lead by example. This role requires a deep understanding of store operations, the ability to manage complex tasks, and a commitment to delivering an outstanding customer experience. Retail Associate III team members take on increased responsibility, mentoring junior associates, supporting store leadership, and ensuring operational excellence. As a key player in driving store performance, they help foster a collaborative environment, maintain high standards of customer satisfaction, and contribute to the overall success of the store.

Requirements

Essential Job Functions

Advanced Customer Engagement & Sales: 

  • Provide expert-level product guidance, fittings, and recommendations across all MonkeySports categories (hockey, baseball, lacrosse, goalie). 
  • Help customers with custom orders and special requests, ensuring accuracy and follow-through. 

Merchandising and Store Standards: 

  • Oversee merchandising standards in assigned sections, ensuring consistent compliance with company guidelines and brand presentation. 

Point-of-Sale Oversight: 

  • Confidently handle complex transactions, including warranty questions, escalated returns, and omni channel orders. 
  • Serve as a resource for Retail Associate 1 and 2 team members on register troubleshooting. 

Labor Skills 

  • Safely perform and execute labor skills such as skate sharpening, lacrosse stringing, and glove relacing.  

Inventory & Operational Support: 

  • Assist with inventory counts and ensure discrepancies are addressed. 
  • Execute price changes on products 

Mentoring & Associate Support: 

  • Help guide Retail Associate 1 and 2 team members, reinforcing company policies, procedures, and customer service expectations. 
  • Answer basic peer questions and demonstrate best practices on the floor. 

Store Appearance & Safety: 

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization on the sales floor and in stock areas. 
  • Ensure all safety procedures and loss prevention standards are upheld. 

Additional Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Participate in store meetings, provide input on operational improvements, and assist with event execution. 
  • Model MonkeySports' service standards and help enforce policy adherence among peers. 
  • Perform other tasks assigned by leadership to meet store goals. 

Qualifications, Education, and Experience 

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  • Typically 1+ year of retail experience OR progression through Retail Associate I and II roles with proven competency. 
  • Advanced product knowledge in key MonkeySports categories. 
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills; comfortable guiding peers. 
  • Proficiency in POS systems, inventory tools, and basic troubleshooting. 

Cognitive and Physical Demands

  • Standing and Walking: Spending long hours on their feet, moving around the store to assist customers and execute daily operational tasks 
  • Lifting and Carrying: Handling merchandise, which may involve lifting and carrying items of varying weights up to 50 LBS 
  • Reaching and Bending: Frequently reaching for items on shelves and bending to access lower shelves or storage areas 
  • Manual Dexterity: Using hands to operate cash registers, computers, and other equipment 
  • Must prioritize multiple tasks, shift focus quickly, and handle occasional high-pressure situations. 
  • Demonstrate independent judgment when assisting customers and supporting team members. 

Working Conditions

  • Primary work is on the retail floor, engaging directly with customers and team members. 
  • May be required to assist with stockroom organization and heavy product movement. 
  • Schedule flexibility is essential, including evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts. Weekend work is required. Travel may be required to attend events.
