Attention Candidates: This position is exclusively open to local residents of Estes Park and the nearby surrounding area. Please note that employee housing is not provided.

Working at the historic Trail Ridge Store & Café located high in the Rocky Mountains on Trail Ridge Road – cresting at over 12,000 feet – is a once in a lifetime adventure! Xanterra operates a cafe, coffee bar, and retail store which are open seasonally from late May to mid-October. If you love nature, beautiful scenery, and have a passion for working in hospitality, Rocky Mountain National Park should be your destination.

Job Summary:

Join the Rocky team where you may be assigned to either a retail or food and beverage position, both offering dynamic and engaging roles. As a Food Outlet Attendant, you'll provide excellent guest service, handle cashiering duties, prepare menu items, and maintain cleanliness and organization in the café. In a Retail Associate role, you'll greet and assist guests, manage transactions, stock merchandise, and ensure the sales floor is clean and well-organized, all while upholding the company's core values and guest service standards.

Responsibilities

IF ASSIGNED TO FOOD & BEVERAGE, RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Perform all duties with respect to the Company’s Core Values, Mission Statement, and guest services standards
  • Food Outlet Attendants provide excellent guest service which includes knowledge of and explanation of menu items, taking orders, suggestive up-selling techniques, and securing payment as required
  • Perform all cashiering duties in our stand-alone café properly, ring up all sales before taking money, call out amount tendered in “dollars and cents”, place bills on register, and count back change
  • Processing credit card sales accurately and in accordance with company procedures
  • Ensuring products are attractively displayed
  • Assist with loading and unloading of café food, and merchandise
  • Stock merchandise and merchandisers as necessary, making sure all displays are kept stocked, neat, and clean
  • Prepare menu items per standard recipes
  • Duties will include dishwashing, dining room attendant, stocking condiments and utensils, cashiering, coffee bar attendant, etc
  • Work coffee bar, hot foods, and food prep as directed by managers
  • Maintain effective cooperation with Food & Beverage Manager, Leads, and other co-workers
  • Maintaining thorough cleanliness and sanitation of work area and perform cleaning as necessary. This includes but is not limited to sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, polishing, and trash removal
  • Emptying trash as needed throughout the day
  • Assist in unloading merchandise, stock shelves, and ensure the dining room is well organized, stocked, sanitized, and clean
  • Learning First In, First Out standards
    Responding to guest requests, maintaining positive interactions
  • Comply with ServSafe protocol
  • Perform duties outside the job classification assigned by management along with any other responsibilities deemed necessary
  • This is a non-tipped position

IF ASSIGNED TO RETAIL, RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Perform all duties with respect to the Company’s Core Values, Mission Statement, and guest service standards
  • Retail Associates provide excellent guest service for all, greet and check out guests with a smile and operate POS units
  • Perform all cashiering duties in our stand-alone retail shop properly; ring up all sales before taking money, call out amount tendered in “dollars and cents”, place bills on register, and count back change
  • Processing credit card sales accurately and in accordance with company procedures
  • Suggest add-on sales with every transaction performed
  • Stock merchandise as necessary, making sure all displays are kept stocked, neat and clean within the guidelines of the Retail Visual Merchandise Manual
  • Assist the retail manager, supervisors, and/or leads with inventory control, and merchandise display
  • Maintain effective cooperation with Retail Manager and other co-workers
  • Assist in loading and unloading merchandise, stock shelves, and ensure the selling floor is well organized and clean
  • Assist in keeping the sales floor clean which includes but is not limited to sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, and trash removal
  • Alert manager to shrinkage, guest problems, and concerns
  • Maintain a safe work area
  • Responsible for accurate account of cash drawer and deposit
  • Perform duties outside the job classification assigned by management along with any other responsibilities deemed necessary

Qualifications

  • Command of the English language with excellent verbal communication
  • Able to operate a cash register, handle cash accurately, open and close the store with or without assistance
  • Knowledge of all menu items, specials, features, food, and beverages
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of food & beverage and/or retail procedures by completing the required training
  • Able to function with flexibility and courteous behavior in a high traffic seasonal food service operation
  • Capable of working with people from all over the world
  • Acquire and demonstrate a basic knowledge of product information
  • Able to work with a minimal amount of supervision
  • Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality. Take breaks in appropriate area for limited time and use the time clock correctly

Physical Requirements include:

  • Candidate must be able to work at an altitude of 12, 000 feet
  • Ability to stand/walk for a minimum eight to ten hour shift
  • Frequently lift and carry cartons weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Must have the ability to walk up and down stairs several times a day
  • Carry boxes/product up and down stairs several times a day
  • Must be able to bend down or kneel to stock product frequently during a shift
  • Must be able to climb ladders as requested
