Job description

Job Purpose: The Design Center Lead oversees the showroom experience from consultative sales through post-installation follow-up, guiding clients through product selection, scheduling measures, preparing quotes, managing projects in Microsoft Dynamics CRM/POS, processing payments, and coordinating deliveries to ensure each job is completed and closed. This role also maintains showroom readiness, receives shipments (forklift training provided), supports walk-ins and events, collaborates on home shows and marketing efforts, and provides team coverage to ensure a consistent five-star experience. Essential Functions:
Sales amp; Client Experience
  • Welcome clients and guide selections in the showroom, ensuring color approvals and accurate order details.
  • Create and manage quotes and sales orders in Microsoft Dynamics POS/CRM.
  • Obtain deposits, verify pricing accuracy, and convert quotes to sales orders.
  • Coordinate with corporate for dye lot verification and ensure product is sequestered when required.
  • Schedule in-home measures, communicate service timelines, and maintain 5-star client satisfaction from quotes through project completion.
Contractor amp; Turnkey Coordination
  • Obtain and confirm contractor installation quotes and costs.
  • Manage turnkey project pricing, quoting, and sales order conversion.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules with contractors and ensure final 50% payments are collected prior to installation.
  • Communicate clearly with all parties to ensure smooth field execution.
Delivery Planning amp; Communication
  • Confirm delivery details and point of contact for each job site.
  • Coordinate outbound deliveries, inbound freight, and third-party services.
  • Verify payment before release, schedule delivery personnel, and ensure accurate labeling for multi-stop deliveries.
  • Maintain proof of delivery and ensure customer preferences (e.g., garage entry, site handling) are followed.
  • Support showroom events, home/trade shows with the marketing and sales team
  • Assist with event setup, lead capture, and follow-up processes
Warehouse, Receiving amp; Inventory Management
  • Receive and verify inbound shipments, update quantities in the system.
  • Ensure related installation materials (adhesives, underlayment, trims) are received and accounted for.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through regular counts and biannual audits.
  • Coordinate outbound freight, schedule FedEx pickups, and manage claims with the freight department.
  • Keep warehouse organized, clean, and compliant with safety standards.
Operational Tracking amp; Payment Management
  • Monitor delayed or open order lines, internal transfers, and delivery queues.
  • Track inbound/outbound shipments and maintain the delivery calendar.
  • Manage deposits, prepaid invoices, and AR for turnkey projects.
  • Ensure all jobs are fully paid and closed out in CRM.
Showroom amp; Customer Experience
  • Maintain a clean, organized showroom and sample inventory.
  • Facilitate design consultations and deliver/deliver sample requests.
  • Gather customer reviews and support showroom marketing initiatives.
  • Manage swag, marketing collateral, and ensure consistent staffing coverage.
  • Partner with marketing on events, home shows, and local builder/designer outreach.
Facilities amp; Safety Oversight
  • Oversee daily facility upkeep, including parking lot and warehouse cleanliness.
  • Maintain forklift safety and maintenance logs.
  • Coordinate local fire inspections, security systems, and supply ordering (Uline, cleaning, office).
