Customer Experience Associate 

Department: Retail Operations 
Reports To: DreamLab Manager 
Schedule: Part-time; maximum 20 hours per week, including evenings and Saturdays

Pay Rate: $15.92 per hour 
Location: GS DreamLab - North Brunswick, NJ 

Position Summary 

Girl Scouts of Central & Southern New Jersey is looking for Customer Experience Associates to join our team! This position supports the day-to-day operations of the DreamLab while creating a welcoming, engaging, and memorable experience for Girl Scouts, families, volunteers, staff, and community members. 

The Customer Experience Associate provides friendly and knowledgeable customer service while assisting with retail merchandise, Girl Scout membership, programs and activities, and general site operations. This position also helps maintain a clean, organized, and inviting environment that reflects the Girl Scout brand and provides a positive “WOW” experience for every visitor. 

Essential Responsibilities 

Customer Experience & Retail Operations 

  • Provide courteous, consistent, professional, and knowledgeable customer service to Girl Scouts, volunteers, parents, families, community members, and staff.  

  • Assist customers with selecting and purchasing retail merchandise.  

  • Answer questions and provide information about Girl Scout membership, programs, activities, and available resources.  

  • Assist with membership sign-ups and other customer needs.  

  • Support store activities and programs to create an engaging and memorable customer experience.  

  • Operate the point-of-sale system and accurately process customer transactions.  

  • Help ensure the efficient and effective operation of the DreamLab while meeting customer service and sales expectations.  

Site Operations & Appearance 

  • Maintain the DreamLab in an attractive, organized, clean, and functional manner.  

  • Maintain brand and visual standards throughout the retail and customer-facing spaces.  

  • Complete housekeeping and light custodial duties as assigned.  

  • Assist with unpacking merchandise and supplies and stocking shelves as needed.  

  • Help maintain an organized and welcoming environment for customers and staff.  

Administrative Support 

  • Complete daily reports, paperwork, and other administrative tasks accurately and in a timely manner.  

  • Assist the DreamLab Manager with additional operational tasks as needed.  

  • Communicate customer questions, concerns, inventory needs, or operational issues to the appropriate manager.  

Education & Experience 

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.  

  • At least one year of retail or customer service experience preferred.  

  • Demonstrated ability to interact positively and professionally with both girls and adults.  

  • Previous Girl Scout experience is a plus but not required.  

  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.  

  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.  

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to read materials and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.  

  • Ability to participate in meetings and communicate in person, virtually, or by phone.  

  • Ability to operate a cash register, computer, keyboard, calculator, copier, and other standard office equipment.  

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the retail and customer-facing areas for extended periods. 

  • Ability to unpack boxes and supplies and stock retail shelves.  

  • Ability to occasionally lift and move merchandise, supplies, and other materials.  

 

Schedule & Other Expectations 

This is a part-time position of up to 20 hours per week. The schedule may include evenings and Saturdays, based on the operating needs of the assigned location. 

Associates will be assigned a primary retail location, but may occasionally be asked to provide coverage at another GSCSNJ retail location. Mileage will be reimbursed for approved travel between locations. 

Reliability, flexibility, and a willingness to assist with a variety of customer service and operational needs are essential to success in this role.
