Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Ammonia & Freon refrigeration systems.

  • Troubleshoot and repair boilers, compressors & waste water treatment systems.
  • Diagnoses problems and effects repairs.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and inspects equipment for potential problems.
  • Makes recommendations for modification of equipment.
  • Orders parts, chemical and materials for refrigeration/heating and air-conditioning equipment and maintains documentation and schematics of all systems.
  • Responsible for daily startup of system, observe operations, read and record gauges and instruments.
  • Adjust mechanisms such as valves, controls and pumps to control the level of fluid, pressure and temperature in the system.
  • Installs wiring to connect components to electric power source.
  • Maintains knowledge, understanding and adherence to safety policies, PSM, RETA, USDA, QA, HACCP and Sanitation rules and regulation, and company policies.
  • Regular and dependable attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must have gone through an apprenticeship program or technical school and demonstrated the ability to work without close supervision.
  • Must have completed and passed the RETA level 1course.
  • Must be able to repair and troubleshoot hydraulic systems and directional controls.
  • Must be proficient in electric motor control and Industrial electrical processes.
  • Must be proficient in welding, both tig and stick.
  • Standardized maintenance knowledge test score of 91% or higher.

PAY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Based on skills and qualifications.
  • Must be able to perform all the essential function of a “B” level mechanic.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively after groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Fluent in English with the ability to read, write, speak and comprehend verbal and written communication.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
