Job description

SUMMARY:

The Refrigeration Technician position will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing all aspects of the ammonia refrigeration system.  Onsite hands-on training as well as ongoing continuing education will be provided for candidates based on experience.    

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Safe and efficient operation of the ammonia refrigeration system
  • Preventative maintenance inspections and calibrations 
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair system problems  
  • Communication and coordination with PSM coordinator and site management  
  • Manage vendors and subcontractors as needed 
  • Responsible for maintaining and prioritizing system task list.    
REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working on industrial refrigeration systems
  • Attention to detail, organized, and strong troubleshooting skills
  • Self-motivated, can work both independently and in a team environment 
  • Willing to help train and develop other technicians
  • Must be able to pass requirements to wear a full-face respirator
PREFERRED SKILLS & TRAINING:
  • Experience with controls, PLCs, and electrical schematics
  • RETA certifications (CARO, CIRO, CRST, CRES)
  • Familiarity with JCI/Frick Control systems & JCI/Frick screw compressors 
  • Microsoft Word & Excel proficiency
  • Familiarity with industry governing codes and standards such as IIAR, ASHRAE, PSM, RMP
