Bankruptcy & Commercial Restructuring Associate Attorney

Houston, Texas

Our client. is seeking a Bankruptcy & Commercial Restructuring Associate with 3–5 years of experience in bankruptcy, loan workouts, commercial restructuring, or related commercial litigation to join our growing Corporate Restructuring & Bankruptcy Practice Group in Houston.

This is an outstanding opportunity to work alongside a highly regarded, multi-office team representing financial institutions, lenders, creditors, and businesses in sophisticated restructuring, insolvency, and commercial litigation matters. Associates receive meaningful responsibility, significant client interaction, and hands-on experience from the outset while collaborating with experienced practitioners across the firm's national platform.

Responsibilities

  • Represent lenders, secured and unsecured creditors, and business clients in bankruptcy, restructuring, and insolvency matters.

  • Handle commercial loan workouts, restructurings, default resolutions, collections, and related litigation.

  • Draft and negotiate workout agreements, forbearance agreements, restructuring documents, and other transaction-related materials.

  • Represent clients in federal and state court proceedings, including bankruptcy court litigation.

  • Analyze complex financial and commercial issues to develop practical legal strategies for clients.

  • Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices on sophisticated restructuring and insolvency matters.

  • Maintain regular client communication while managing multiple matters efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.

  • 3–5 years of experience in bankruptcy, restructuring, loan workouts, commercial litigation, or a related practice area.

  • Experience representing lenders, creditors, financial institutions, or commercial borrowers is preferred.

  • Knowledge of CMBS transactions (including special servicing), commercial lending, real estate, maritime, or energy law is a plus.

  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, organizational, and advocacy skills.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced practice.

  • Demonstrated sound judgment, professionalism, and commitment to client service.

  • Active license to practice law in Texas is required.
