Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring Associate Attorney
Locations: Dallas, TX | New York, NY

Direct Counsel is seeking a Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring Associate Attorney to join the growing Financial Restructuring practice of a premier Am Law firm. This is an outstanding opportunity to work on sophisticated domestic and cross-border restructuring matters representing creditors, investors, distressed companies, and other stakeholders in some of the most complex bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings in the market.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of bankruptcy and restructuring experience with a strong background handling large-scale Chapter 11 proceedings, cross-border restructurings, and out-of-court workouts.

Responsibilities
  • Represent creditors, investors, distressed companies, and other stakeholders in complex Chapter 11, Chapter 15, and cross-border restructuring matters.
  • Advise first- and second-lien lenders, bondholders, hedge funds, and other creditor groups in bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings.
  • Handle sophisticated in-court and out-of-court restructurings, workouts, and distressed transactions.
  • Draft and negotiate restructuring agreements, bankruptcy pleadings, financing documents, and related transaction documentation.
  • Participate in contested bankruptcy litigation, court hearings, and appellate proceedings.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex domestic and international restructuring matters, including transactions involving Latin America and other cross-border jurisdictions.
  • Work closely with clients to develop strategic solutions for distressed situations while managing matters from inception through resolution.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • 3+ years of experience in bankruptcy, insolvency, and financial restructuring at a law firm.
  • Significant experience representing creditors, investors, distressed companies, and other stakeholders in large-scale U.S. and cross-border bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court restructurings.
  • Experience handling sophisticated Chapter 11 and Chapter 15 matters is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience at a Top 30 Am Law firm is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, negotiation, research, and advocacy skills.
  • Active bar admission, or eligibility for admission, in the jurisdiction where the candidate will be based.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: Starting at $260,000, with compensation commensurate with class year and experience.
