About the Opportunity:

A prominent national law firm is seeking a Bankruptcy Associate to join its Corporate Restructuring & Bankruptcy practice in Houston. This opportunity is ideal for attorneys looking to gain sophisticated hands-on experience representing lenders, secured and unsecured creditors, and businesses in complex commercial restructuring, insolvency, workout, and bankruptcy matters.


The role offers significant client contact, courtroom exposure, and the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative, multi-office team handling high-level commercial loan restructuring and workout matters across a variety of industries.


Responsibilities:

• Represent lenders, secured and unsecured creditors, and businesses in restructuring and insolvency matters

• Handle commercial loan workouts, default resolutions, and collection matters

• Assist with bankruptcy proceedings in federal and state courts

• Advise clients on commercial restructuring strategies and risk mitigation

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents

• Conduct legal research and develop case strategies

• Participate in negotiations involving loan restructurings and workout agreements

• Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices on complex restructuring matters

• Maintain direct client contact and support ongoing client relationships

Qualifications:

✔ Bankruptcy, workout, and/or commercial litigation experience preferred

✔ Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and organizational skills

✔ Experience handling complex commercial disputes and insolvency-related matters

✔ Knowledge of CMBS (including special servicing), commercial lending, real estate, maritime, and/or energy law is a plus

✔ Excellent academic credentials required

✔ Strong attention to detail and sound professional judgment

✔ Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment

✔ Active Texas Bar license required
