Overview
As one of the nation's leading electric transmission line construction companies, MasTec Power Delivery companies engineer and construct efficient and reliable electrical transmission, distribution, and substation & switchyard systems. Our extensive workforce includes both union and nonunion teams, which, combined with our specialized equipment fleet, allows us to effectively meet our clients' needs for power delivery, emergency restoration, and ongoing maintenance. We've been involved in some of the most challenging and recognizable electric projects across the U.S. From the electric plant to the end users, MasTec's experienced managers and crews consistently deliver transmission, distribution, and substation & switchyard services with an unfailing commitment to safety, integrity, and sustainable practices.
The Tool / Fabrication Manager is responsible for ordering, tracking, maintenance and repair of tools required for the safe and efficient work of field crews.
Salary range: $80-120k
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Must be able, without instruction, to identify tool inventory deficiencies and work to correct the issues by implementing and working a plan that is safe and within guidelines set forth by company standards
  • Review with Business Manager weekly cost reports with detailed information outlining type and quantity of tools and supplies purchased with clearly defined accounting of assignment of internal coding
  • Maintain constant and detailed communication with operations personnel to determine requirements and specifications for tooling to ensure efficiencies and field production
  • Develop and implement tracking procedures for tooling in the field and stored in the warehouse
  • Work with field personnel to develop am implement standardization on tool classification, including fittings for connections to equipment
  • Develop and implement maintenance policies, schedules, and processes that comply with manufacturer recommendations and industry, company, and OSHA safety policies
  • Remain updated in industry trends and improvements for maintaining a modern and efficient tooling system
  • Keep accurate records of the type and quantity of line tools, both in house and checked out to crews, including broken or damaged items
  • Keep a list of vendors for purchasing new tooling and get estimates for best pricing available
  • Follow established guidelines for obtaining Purchase orders and all pertinent documentation for tool procurement
  • Design and implement plans for fabrication, repair and maintenance of equipment and associated systems
  • Institute plans for maintenance and restoration of the appearance and function of equipment, including rust repair and painting

Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficiency in welding
  • Must have good written and verbal skills
  • Must be able to take and give concise verbal instructions
  • Must have good computer skills, have knowledge of Internet software, Inventory software, Manufacturing software, and Order processing systems
  • Must have good interpersonal skills
  • Must exercise safe work practices
  • Must hold a current drivers' license

Qualifications
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift materials in excess of 50 pounds, be generally physically fit, and be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable ease. Pre-employment drug screen testing is mandatory.

Education and/or Work Experience:
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand documents such as safety regulations, technical diagrams / drawings, and operation, maintenance and repair manuals
  • Experience compiling data and information into routine reports and correspondence, and experience presenting this information verbally in weekly meetings
  • A minimum of two years' experience working with electrical distribution and transmission line tooling
