What is a restorative nurse assistant?

A Restorative Nurse Assistant (RNA) is a certified nursing assistant (CNA) who has additional training in restorative care techniques. RNAs work with patients, often in long-term care settings, to help them maintain or improve their physical abilities and prevent further decline. They assist with mobility exercises, range-of-motion activities, and other therapies as directed by nursing or rehabilitation staff. Their goal is to enhance residents’ independence, mobility, and quality of life while working as part of a healthcare team.

A restorative nurse assistant helps patients regain or maintain their physical abilities through exercises, mobility activities, and daily living tasks. They work under the supervision of nurses or therapists in healthcare settings, documenting progress and ensuring safety during activities.
