Job description
Basic Function: Responsible for ensuring a dining experience that meets or exceeds guest satisfaction by providing timely and courteous food and beverage service.
Essential Duties:
- Greets guests arriving at station in a pleasant manner. Ensures that all newly seated guests receive immediate attention and that their orders are taken promptly.
- Maintains control and order of issued guest checks; verifies all checks for information prices, taxes, and tips.
- Garnishes all plates and drinks prior to serving and inspects the quality of the food before leaving the kitchen.
- Serves all alcoholic beverages knowledgeably and in strict compliance with all applicable alcoholic beverage laws.
- Continually monitors guests to ensure that their needs are met.
- Notifies supervisor of any complaints or unsatisfactory foods so that they can be rectified immediately.
- Maintains clean and stocked work stations throughout assigned shift.
- Completes all assigned side work prior to beginning and ending shift. Reviews cleaning chart and performs the required cleaning of the day.
- Clears off tables during guest meals and resets tables according to restaurant standards in preparation for new guests.
- Wears appropriate uniform and maintains personal cleanliness.
Other Duties:
- Conforms to the promotional theme of the restaurant which may include attire, demeanor and/or other required activities (i.e., dancing and speaking 50’s lingo, etc.).
- Performs tableside food preparation and service as required. Activities may include carving meats, boning fish, preparing flaming dishes and desserts and presenting, opening, and pouring wine.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Essential Requirements:
- One week minimum of on-the-job training.
- Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods of up to four (4) hours in length. Must have a good sense of balance, be able to bend, reach and kneel, and have the ability to lift and carry trays and bus pans frequently weighing up to 25 pounds. In some locations, must be able to dance.
- Subject to exposure of wet floors and temperature extremes.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand basic English in order to communicate effectively with all guests and other hotel associates.
- Must possess a friendly, helpful personality enabling one to handle guest relations pleasantly and effectively.
- Must complete all ordering and cashier (on properties where servers are self banked) procedures and is responsible for all transactions.
