Job description


The Hotel Food Server is an essential part of the Restaurant. Within this position the Server is not only responsible to seat, greet and take orders from guests, but is also responsible to make sure the guests have an unforgettable and unique culinary experience. The Server must feel confident making recommendations when asked and responsibly communicating any food allergies or special nutritional request to the kitchen staff.
Responsibilities
  • Presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service.
  • Writes order on check or memorizes it.
  • Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars.
  • Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.
  • Totals up bills and accepts payments, or refers patron to Cashier.
  • Brews coffee, preps and serves beverages.
  • Clears and resets counters or tables at conclusion of each course.
  • May assist others in basic food production or other food service activities.
  • May break down and clean service lines as well as clean a variety of other kitchen equipment.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.

Qualifications
  • Some prior customer service experience or training.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
