Restaurant Menu Data Extraction information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Restaurant Menu Data Extraction Specialist, and why are they important?

To excel as a Restaurant Menu Data Extraction Specialist, you need strong attention to detail, data entry proficiency, and familiarity with restaurant terminology, often supported by a background in data management or related fields. Experience with data extraction tools, OCR software, spreadsheets, and content management systems is highly valuable. Effective communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently set top performers apart. These skills ensure accurate, efficient extraction and structuring of menu data, which is critical for maintaining high-quality databases and supporting business operations.

What are some common challenges faced when extracting restaurant menu data, and how can they be overcome?

One common challenge in restaurant menu data extraction is dealing with non-standardized formats from various sources, such as scanned PDFs, images, or unstructured web pages. This often requires the use of both automated tools and manual verification to ensure accuracy and consistency. Additionally, menu items and pricing may change frequently, so maintaining up-to-date data is crucial. Collaborating closely with team members, such as data engineers and quality assurance specialists, can help address these challenges efficiently and maintain high data quality.

What is restaurant menu data extraction?

Restaurant menu data extraction is the process of collecting and digitizing information from restaurant menus, such as dish names, descriptions, prices, and categories. This data is often extracted from physical menus, PDFs, images, or websites using manual entry, OCR (optical character recognition), or specialized software. The structured data can then be used in applications like food delivery platforms, restaurant review sites, or nutrition tracking services. Accurate menu data extraction is essential for providing up-to-date and detailed information to customers and business partners.

Job description

Senior Manager, Menu Data Services

Ready to build what’s next with one of the world’s most iconic brands?

Why Join Subway?

At Subway, we are not standing still. We are building.

This is a business focused on what matters most: growing franchisee profitability, strengthening our brand and creating long-term value. The people who thrive here are the ones who want to make a real impact.

You will not just do the work. You will shape it.

We move fast. We think like owners. We make decisions that matter. We hold ourselves to a high standard because what we do directly impacts thousands of franchisees around the world.

If you bring energy, accountability and a bias for action, you will fit right in.

We take the work seriously, but we also know the best results come from teams that support each other, celebrate wins and show up ready to build something better every day.

This is your chance to be part of what’s next.

About the Role:

Our Senior Manager, Menu Data Services is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of Subway’s menu data — managing content, coordinating across markets, and ensuring every item makes it to the POS correctly and on time.

This is a role for someone who thinks in systems, leads with conviction, and gets energy from solving hard problems at scale.

Essential Functions

  • Own the end-to-end process for getting menu items, offers, and product changes live across Subway’s POS systems globally.
  • Coordinate menu updates across markets, franchisees, and internal teams to ensure accuracy and on-time delivery.
  • Build and maintain the processes, tools, and documentation that keep menu data clean at scale.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for menu data issues — triaging, resolving, and preventing them from recurring.
  • Track and report on data accuracy metrics, identifying patterns and driving continuous improvement.
  • Actively seek out opportunities to leverage AI tools to automate manual data processes, reduce errors, and free the team to focus on higher-value work.

Skills and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 or more years of operations or program management experience, ideally in a global or multi-market environment.
  • Experience in restaurant technology, QSR, or franchise environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and a track record of owning data accuracy at scale.
  • Demonstrated ownership: treats problems as yours until they’re solved.
  • An AI-first mindset and genuine excitement about what automation unlocks for users, operators, and the business.
  • Experience building and improving operational processes — not just managing the work, but making it better.
  • Clear communicator who can align stakeholders across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing, empowered teams.

What do we offer?

  • Insurance Plans (Medical, Life)
  • Pension/401K/RSP (country specific)
  • Competitive Bonus
  • Mobility Allowance
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Company Holidays
  • Volunteering time
  • And More.....

Compensation: The base pay range for this role is $158,900-198,600 annually

Pay within this range will be determined in good faith based on job-related factors, which may include skills, experience, education/training, location, and internal equity.

The Company is only considering applicants who are currently authorized to work in the country the position is based. AA/EOE/D/V
