Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Prepare meats, vegetables, garnishes, and other ingredients so cooks can complete orders quickly, safely, and consistently during off hours. Support kitchen operations by keeping dishes, cookware, utensils, and dish areas clean, sanitized, organized, and ready for service.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Wash, peel, cut, slice, chop, portion, label, and store ingredients according to prep lists.
  • Prepare meats, seafood, vegetables, herbs, garnishes, sauces, and basic mise en place as directed.
  • Assist with marinating, seasoning, sauce portioning, garnish setup, and ingredient organization.
  • Coordinate with cooks on daily prep priorities, shortages, special menu needs, and timing.
  • Maintain clean prep stations, cutting boards, tools, containers, storage, and refrigeration areas.
  • Follow FIFO rotation, labeling, temperature control, sanitation, and allergen-awareness procedures.
  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized dishwashing station during prep, service, and closing.
  • Sort, stack, and return clean items to correct kitchen and service storage areas.
  • Remove garbage, recycling, and food waste according to restaurant procedures.
  • Clean and sanitize sinks, counters, floors, mats, shelves, and assigned kitchen areas.
  • Report equipment issues, broken dishes, shortages, spills, or safety concerns promptly.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prep, kitchen helper, food-service, or restaurant experience preferred; training may be provided.
  • Comfortable handling meats, seafood, vegetables, knives, cutting boards, and basic kitchen tools.
  • Organized, careful, reliable, and able to follow instructions and recipes.
  • Able to stand for shifts and support light cleaning, restocking, and opening/closing prep tasks.
  • Dishwasher, kitchen helper, restaurant, or cleaning experience preferred; training may be provided.
  • Able to stand, lift, bend, work with hot water, and move quickly during busy periods.
  • Reliable, punctual, respectful, and able to follow instructions and safety procedures.
  • Willing to assist with basic prep support or restocking when requested.
