Job description:
The Host/Hostess is the first and last person guests will see when they enter and leave the restaurant. Responsibilities include greeting guests, assigning tables, answering phones and any questions guests may have about dining at MOSU. For this role, we are looking for someone with solid organizational and people skills, positive and outgoing personality, with the ability to communicate effectively with the MOSU team as well as customers.
Responsibilities:
Greets guests entering the restaurant & thank them upon their departure. Make sure that all guests check in before walking into the restaurant.
Explain different dining options, answer questions and guide guests in their selection of the dining experience.
Provide accurate wait times & monitor waiting list. Survey the restaurant and stay updated on the status of guests and tables (ie. ordered dessert, has check, table empty but needs bussing, table is ready to be seated)
Coordinate with wait staff about available seating options, recommend waiting in bar.
Answer phones, take reservations as required.
Communicate with supervisors & teams.
Help where necessary to get guests seated quickly. (i.e. clearing plates, resetting tables, etc.) Complete a final check before seating guests to ensure the table is sanitized and ready.
Maintain a clean reception area and restrooms.
Keep track of tablets for guest use, keep them charged and sanitized. Set them up to the correct menu based on guest selection and enable security features.
Add the correct charges for each table based on the number of guests seating.
Actively learn the faces and names of our returning guests and acknowledge our guests when they come to the restaurant.

Requirements:
Previous work experience as restaurant host/hostess or in customer service is a plus.
Understanding of restaurant etiquette.
Demonstrable customer-service skills.
Excellent communication skills (via phone and in-person).
Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining and bar area.
Knowledgeable with computers and tablet computers.
Good physical condition to walk and stand during an entire shift.
Dress elegantly and professionally.
